Our remodel of a kitchen is located on the parlor level of an Italianate brownstone in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. A structural bearing wall was removed to open the kitchen to the living and dining areas, and windows were extended to the floor to create doors to a new deck and stairs to the garden. The existing chimney in the dining room was adjusted to create a standing-height firebox that houses a Tuscan grill for cooking in the winter. The original parquet oak floors were repaired and given new life with a dark brown dye.
